Kampung Tridi also known as Indonesia’s 3D City, is a neighborhood of colorful, mosaic painted houses and graffiti decorated streets. Located in the city of Malang this up and coming tourist destination was designed to help raise awareness about pollution and sanitary conditions of the city.
Prambanan is a 9th century temple dedicated to the Hindu Trimurti, the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Located nearby Yogyakarta on the island of Java this temple is a must see when visiting Indonesia. Prambanan is very accessible on your own and it was my first stop during my 2 day Java scooter adventure.
The “Mountain of Fire” also known as Mount Merapi is Indonesia’s most active volcano. Located on the island of Java this hike is intense but well worth it. Hiking Mount Merapi on your own is an easy thing to do and I had a blast on my solo hike.
Being Indonesia’s largest Buddhist temple, Borobudur is a must see when visiting Java. Located near Yogyakarta visiting Borobudur on your own is a great way to see and learn more about one of Indonesia’s oldest cultures.
